I started to learn Morse code at the age of 13 at school. At age 14 I earned my SWL call sign UL7-026-207 and was one of the operators of the club youth station UK7LAF. At that time I was interested in home brewing radio equipment. I got my personal license at the age of 21 and call sign UL7LEN. By that time I was build my first transceiver, and using them on the air. From 1988 to 2000, I headed the radio club station UL8LWA and also after the change of callsign UN8LW. Since 1993 I hold call sing UN9LW. Since 1998, in the contest began to use the contest call UP0L. In 2004, I built a countryside home station where I still participate in contests. I participated in WRTC 2002 in Finland. I participated in WRTC 2010 in Moscow.

When I was 14 years old I spent the first qso at the club station city Kostanay (Kazakhstan). And since 1979 I have been working on SWL UL7-026-476 radio. The first callsign received in 1989 UN7LAH. Then the 1993 UN9LM. Since 2005 and now UN9L. Also fascinated by the VHF contact and space species qso via EME and SAT ISS. I work in contests UHF VHF EME SAT from my home position.
