WRTC 2018 is pleased to announce that the Dayton Amateur Radio Association (DARA) supports the World Radiosport Team Championship in Germany as a platinum level club Sponsor with a significant financial contribution.

Christian, DL1MGB, hands over the plaque for the Platinum Sponsorship to Michael, W8CI, representative of DARA, accompanied by Tim, K3LR, Director of the Dayton Contest University

DARA is a non profit organization which manages the yearly Hamvention exhibition and fair in May. Hamvention is the biggest event of its kind in North America. Moreover Dayton is the meeting point for the international contest community, hosting also the Contest University. 2017 was a very special year with the move to the new location in Xenia - a big and successful step for the event with a long tradition.

Michael Kalter, W8CI, from the DARA board stated “The Dayton Amateur Radio Association/Hamvention is pleased to become a Platinum Level Donor. Our club is happy to support this austere event and considers it an opportunity to promote overall excellence in Amateur Radio Operations. The nuances of communication techniques learnt in this event will elevate many areas of the radio service. Especially in times of emergency when solid communication is paramount. Thank you and good luck to all!”

Christian Janssen, DL1MGB, president of the WRTC 2018 Organizing Committee, emphasized “Dayton Hamvention has been the most famous ham radio meeting for many years. Dayton is the place where ham radio and especially contesting lives. The stamina of the DARA group to organize Hamvention year after year is an inspiring example and a boost for many ham radio projects around the world. The very successful move the the new location in Xenia gives us the certainty of many future WRTCs finding a safe harbour during Hamvention for networking and presentations.”

Michael Kalter will visit Hamradio Friedrichshafen next month and give a presentation.
