Northern California DX Foundation (NCDXF)

The Northern California DX Foundation is a private foundation described in Section 501(c)(3) of the US Internal Revenue Code. It was founded in 1972 to assist worthwhile amateur radio and scientific projects with funding and equipment. NCDXF's funding comes entirely from voluntary contributions from members and friends, from grants from other foundations and organizations, and from investment income generated from the Foundation's trust fund.
In keeping with the original goal of the founders, NCDXF has supported over 500 DXpeditions, large and small. For the expensive "mega" DXpeditions, NCDXF is often the “anchor” sponsor and its grant often makes the difference in whether the DXpedition goes forward. These grants have totalled in excess of $1,000,000.
In 1979 the NCDXF Board launched the NCDXF/IARU International Beacon Project to provide a mechanism for amateurs around the world to learn and understand more about radio propagation. Currently NCDXF maintains transmitters in 18 countries, transmitting for 10 seconds on each of five bands on 14.100. NCDXF maintains an Educational scholarship fund established by Don Doughty, W6EEN (SK), which has provided scholarships to college students, assistance for teenagers to participate in DXpeditions, and tuition at DX and contest universities held around the world.
NCDXF has been pleased to have been a significant sponsor of every WRTC.
